DESIGN KEY CONCEPT
NEECo's design philosophy involves several key concepts and processes which stimulate the creation of designs that will remain functional and efficient over time, and meet the present and future needs of the facility’s owner and occupants.
Computer Assisted design
Our inhouse computer system assists engineers and designers with many aspects of design preparation and documentation.
We use state of the art AutoCAD system and 3D modeling to produce engineering drawings of excellent quality. Our designers use the CAD system to maximize the degree of standardization and uniformity of drawings, as well as to reduce the time required during design and drafting processes. Design parameters used repeatedly can be stored and retrieved easily.
Our CAD system also provides a highly effective method of communicating technical and graphic information for design reviews and workload management. This system also allows us to receive and transmit building design information rapidly to/from our clients online.
Staffing
For each project we select a principal to serve as principal-in-charge and another to serve as project lead. The project lead is selected based upon his experience with similar projects and his ability to work effectively with the particular client. The project lead and the designated engineering heads assemble a project team of engineers, designers, and drafters that will most effectively fulfill the technical requirements of the project.
Project management
Our objective is to deliver the highest quality engineering services on time and at, or under, the budgeted cost. A single project lead is responsible for all client contact as well as coordination of all engineering staff. This unique feature reduces coordination time on the part of the client and assures that all information is decimated on a timely and accurate basis.
Schedule Development
We develop and monitor aggressively tight, yet achievable, project schedules. To develop the project schedule, the project lead and the project team identify in detail the scope of the work to be performed. Based upon our experience with similar projects, labor hours and calendar days required to complete the project tasks are established. A detailed project schedule will be drawn up from this information, taking into consideration the client’s time frame and scope of work.
Monitoring project program
As the work on a project proceeds, it is the assigned project lead’s responsibility to assure that both the schedule and budget are adhered. Project meetings are held to assess and discuss project progress.
Permits and Approvals
We streamline your permitting process by reducing the number of revisions during plan check process by providing a code compliant set of drawings. After submission for plan check, our engineers review and respond to building officials comments and correct the design as required.
Value engineering
Quality and cost are among our clients most pressing concerns. Often, it seems that quality must be sacrificed to reduce costs, or budgets must be ignored to deliver a quality product. At NEECo, value engineering is a design analysis technique in which quality and cost are given equal weight.
